What do the numbers and letters of the Acoustic products stand for?

It’s a combination between the speaker system series, the speaker size and number, plus the features of the model. For example, P2.3F refers to speaker series P (Profile Series), two 3-inch speakers made of fiberglass (F) and C10 refers to speaker series C with a 10 inch speaker.

Are the Acoustic speakers resistant to moisture if they are installed in a pool, sauna or outdoors?

The speakers that we use are generally moisture resistant in a normal use. We have a number of speakers designed for use in swimming pools or outdoors where the level of moisture is high. We refer to the P-series models which are made of fiberglass (denoted by F at the end). The rest of the speakers have this moisture membrane, but long-term use in such environments is not recommended, and neither at the sauna, where conditions are completely different.

How long does it take to design and install a sound system in a club or a restaurant?

Our work procedure is as follows: the first step is the photographic documentation of the place in order to have an understanding of the acoustic needs based on the future destination of the place (it can become a restaurant with ambient music or an event venue). Based on this documentation, the surveys and renderings received from the client, we make a 3D project with the positioning of the speakers and their integration into the space and design. If the project is accepted, we pass on to cabling, and then, following the architectural finishing, we install the audio system. The next steps are the adjustment and configuration of the system, as well as staff training.

In terms of working days, depending on the dimensions of the place, all this would be divided as follows: the designing, configuration and quotation can take 1 to 5 days, the cabling and installation of the infrastructure can take 1 to 3 days, equipment installation can take 1 to 5 days, and we need 1 or 2 days for configuration and staff training. Basically, designing and installing an audio system can last between 4 to 15 days if all goes well. 🙂

How many speakers are needed for the music to sound good in a closed space?

Typically, you need a minimum of two speakers and a bass to create a stereophonic sound and to provide a full spectrum sound, but the maximum number of speakers which ensures that the music ‘sounds good’ is determined by the particularity and the needs of a given space. Everything is estimated according to the destination of the space (bar, restaurant, café etc.), its volume, division and delimitation of areas. Based on all these factors it is possible to decide on the number of speakers needed and their type.

In a restaurant you need several speakers, for mid / high frequencies and a bass, or only one type?

To have a complete sound you need speakers that reproduce all frequencies. As a result, it takes several medium-high speakers and one or more bass speakers, which render and complete the fullness of a sound. Without bass the sound is incomplete and seems unnatural.

What are the differences between a professional amplifier and a ‘regular’ one?

The main difference is the operating mode. A homemade audio amplifier is designed to work about 2-3 hours a day and the professional one is built to operate for 16-24 hours. There are also differences in the quality of the components used in terms of their operating life and the amount of extra functions.
